JOB SUMMARY
A DBA Engineer is responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of database servers. This role involves planning and development of the database, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users. The DBA Engineer ensures that data is accessible, protected, and efficiently managed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies.
- Perform regular backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Ensure high availability and scalability of database systems.
- Implement and manage access controls, encryption, and other security measures.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Provide support for database-related issues and resolve incidents.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to optimize database usage.
- Install and configure database software and tools. Manage database schema changes and version control.
- Set up monitoring tools to track performance and usage.
- Maintain documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Establish and enforce database standards and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 years of experience working as a DBA Engineer
- Good English proficiency (both verbal and written)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL and Oracle database platforms
- Experience with backup/recovery tools, performance tuning, and monitoring systems.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and data privacy regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
